Neptune Society Sponsors American Legion Fall Conference 2015

American_legion_logoNeptune Society is one of the top sponsors in this year’s American Legion Fall Conference to be held on November 13-15, 2015.

The American Legion Fall Conference held at the Hilton Orlando, Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, November 13-15 is designed to serve as an all-inclusive training opportunity through dynamic lectures and classes. Distinguished guest speakers are also invited to attend the general sessions.

Over 1,000 members of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion (SAL) will be in attendance, as well as their spouses and family members. The American Legion is a non-profit veterans-based organization that is funded through membership dues and donations. The organization encourages sponsors and vendors who participate to be beneficial to members and mirror core values of honoring those who have served our country.

Matthew DiGiovanni, Neptune Society’s Vice President of Marketing, and Katie Wilcox, a Neptune Society Marketing Specialist, will answer members’ questions regarding cremation pre-planning. “On the weekend following Veterans Day, this is an opportunity to thank those who served in person and answer any questions they have about veterans’ end-of-life benefits and pre-planning a dignified and respectful exit,” said DiGiovanni. They will also hold a complimentary raffle for all conference attendees. Neptune Society Sales Manager Geno Perez and independent sales representatives Ricardo Gonzalez and Mary Morgan will also be in attendance to discuss veterans’ options regarding cremation pre-planning.

Cremation is becoming a popular option for veterans making final arrangements due to its affordability, simplicity, freedom from religious restrictions, and eco-friendliness. Neptune Society aims to provide information on what cremation benefits and assistance options are available to veterans. As funeral costs continue to rise, veterans and their families must arm themselves with knowledge of available services and benefits to help manage the rising costs of final arrangements.

Many of the programs that will be covered in the Fall Conference involve advocate and outreach training, free certifications, and small classes. The goal of these efforts is to help American Legion members and officers understand and learn more about their veterans’ benefits, post responsibilities, and other veteran-related activities. Pre-registration is required for some classes.

While the agenda is subject to change, the first day of the Fall Conference will cover the Service Officer School (a two-day informative Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation class that covers all veterans’ benefits), a Legion Institute course, Post Operations Training, IRS 990 Rules, Homeless Veteran Outreach Training, a Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Advisor Class, a Legion Riders E-Board Meeting, an American Legion Riders Class, Oratorical Training, a Post Commanders’ Training, and a Baseball Meeting. The second day will include core training for veterans and additional classes and meetings such as Food Handler Training, Social Media Training, a Project VetRelief: Advocate Class, a Historian/Centennial Class, and the Florida American Legion Press Association Meeting. At 6:30 p.m. there will also be a Commanders’ and Presidents’ Banquet with limited seating. The last day of the Fall Conference will include a religious service in the morning and a committee meeting, along with training for District and Area Commanders.
