Gerald (Gary) L. Cline, 80, of Las Cruces, NM, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 25, 2023, in Las Cruces, NM. He was born May 14, 1943, in Enid, OK. He was the son of Raymond and Bea Cline. Gary was a graduate of Colorado State University, and he earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the AFIT School of Engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country honorably for 22 years. He was a “mustang” Major and very proud of it. Gary retired in 1984 at Holloman AFB as a flight test engineer. After working for civil service for several years, he accepted a job with Northrop in California. While there, he was proud to be on the flight test team for the B-2 Stealth bomber for six years. After 13 years, due to medical problems, he retired in 1998. He loved his church, family, antique cars, flying, sailing, RVing, and telling his stories, but his passion was really being with his HB. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sally Cline (Honey Bun); his dear son, David Cline (Cathy) of Las Cruces, NM; and three cherished daughters Cynthia Romeo (Duke) of Waco, TX, Yvette Terheggen (Dan) of Laguna Beach, CA, and Corie Cline of Las Cruces, NM; and one sister, Deanna Hagy of Kerrville, TX as well as ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Mesa Baptist Church, 6160 Moongate Road, Las Cruces, NM 88012 or Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
