Long before mentoring was a skill with formal training, Len epitomized the role and set a high bar at that. Not only did he make my 1984 summer internship the most productive and valuable it could possibly be, he and Mary befriended me and  introduced me to the beauty and wonders of New Mexico that they, themselves adored. Len and Mary continued to support me with opportunities and encouragement throughout my entire career and remained steadfast and very much admired friends. 
The world is not the same without these best of the best two friends.
