Ramon was born on July 5, 1945 to Ramon and Josefita Sandoval. He is survived by his loving wife Irene, son Jason (Melany), daughter Stacy, brother Henry (Betty), sisters Cora and Leora (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Josefita.
Ramon was drafted in the Vietnam war but never saw combat as he tested out and spent his army days stationed in Germany where was fortunate to travel across Europe. He returned to Cuba, NM where he met and married his wife of 50 years Irene. Ramon was a devoted husband and father. He loved traveling with his children and wanted nothing more than to make sure they had a good start at their futures. Ramon retired in 2011 from the oil industry. He spent his retirement caring for his ranch and animals.
Ramon read his Bible regularly and had the quite faith of a rancher. Although his passing was sudden to us we do not know how long he suffered with his illness. He was not one to complain and was one of the strongest men we’ve known. He was anointed with Holy Oils on the Friday before his death and died on Saturday on the Feast Day of San Isidro, Patron Saint of Ranchers and Farmers.
On Tuesday, May 25, 2021 there will be a Rosary at 10am and the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11am to be held in Cuba, NM at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. There will be a private internment at Santa Fe National Memorial cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for all the prayers, love and support shown to us during this difficult time. We would like to thank Dr. Vesta Sandoval, Dr. Robin Knight and the nursing staff for all their aid at Lovelace. We would especially like to thank the Team at AmberCare Home Health for their wonderful and loving care for Ramon and his family. We would have been so lost with out you! Thank you Janessa, Katrina, Yola, Cassandra, Ashley (PT & RN), Gail and all the on call nurses who we reached out to in our panic. Thank you to Msgr. Voorhies and Annunciation Parish who carried us constantly in prayer and support with food. Thank you Father Dennis Garcia for your friendship for celebrating the Funeral Mass. There are so many to thank individually and please know how extremely grateful we are!
