

Carlton Jay Jacobs, 89, of Lake Mary, FL passed away on February 26, 2026. Jay was born in Mayo, FL in 1936 and grew up in Geneva, FL, where he was raised by his parents George Washington and Jessie Mae Jacobs. After graduation from high school, he attended Jones Business College in Orlando, FL, then entered the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country where he met his future wife Violet Faye Johnson in Amarillo, TX. During his tenure in the Air Force, he attained the rank of Technical Sergeant teaching jet engine and aircraft maintenance at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois, where they settled. After discharge from the Air Force, he managed a shopping center in Rantoul, served as president of the Rantoul Chamber of Commerce, and then became a co-owner of an insurance agency in Champaign. He ultimately returned to his Florida roots in 1995, retiring in Sanford, FL. He was a proud veteran, a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, the Moose Fraternity, Sanford Yacht Club, Orlando Computer Society, Orlando Scrabble Club and the Sanford Historical Society. He enjoyed golf, boating and water skiing, computers, digital photography, genealogy, and serving on the Seminole High School Class of 1954 reunions and Celery Fed Beach Reunions.
Preceding his death are his parents, and brothers George Jacobs and James Jacobs.
He is survived by his loving wife Vi of 69 years; brothers Johnnie Jacobs, Preston, GA, William Jacobs, Geneva, FL; sister Geraldine Ledford, Clover, SC; sons James Jacobs (Chris), Lafayette, IN and Kenneth Jacobs, Titusville, FL; daughters Sheryl Dice (Randy) Carrollton, TX and Lynda Fulkes (Mark) North Fort Myers, FL; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A military service is scheduled for June 12th, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 5525 US Highway 1, Mims, FL 32754. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seminole High School Community and Student Action Committee, the Geneva Historical and Genealogical Society, or the American Heart Association in honor of Carlton Jay Jacobs.
