In Loving Memory of
Walter Stephen “Steve” “Popi” Ray
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Stephen “Steve” “Popi” Ray,
a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Steve passed away
peacefully on Monday evening, August 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born on September 1, 1949, Steve lived a life full of purpose, determination, and integrity.
Steve's love for life was evident in everything he did. He enjoyed jeeping with his buddies,
building cars in his garage, and the many house projects to improve his home, which he
enjoyed to the fullest in his later years. He took great pride in his work as a union organizer for
the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and was chosen for the role of
International Representative where he stood up for electrical workers with unwavering
dedication and fought tirelessly for their rights and better working conditions. His commitment to
the labor movement was a testament to his belief in fairness and justice for all.
He dedicated his life to his family, always putting their needs above his own. He is survived by
his devoted wife, Carol Ray, of more than twenty-seven years, his children, and grandchildren.
Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Steve will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his legacy of love
and kindness will endure.
