
Timothy James Knighton Sr. transitioned on Friday, March 31,2023 at the age of 78. He was born December 13, 1944, in Laurel, Mississippi to T.C. and Sarah Knighton. Timothy was the third son of their four children and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore Maryland. Timothy attended Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois, and San Francisco State University in California.
Timothy became a resident of Baltimore, Maryland after joining the Domestic Peace/Core Volunteers in Service to America, (VISTA) in 1968. During this time, he met another volunteer, Victoria A. McCadd. Timothy and Victoria were married on August 28, 1971.
Timothy worked for the Department of the Army in Germany and Korea as a Director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Division. During his career he was awarded the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service for his leadership and integrity.
After retirement from the Department of the Army in Fort Rucker Alabama, Timothy and Victoria moved to Griffin, Georgia. As a retiree, he embraced new friends and activities in his community, and church. Timothy was always known for his unique and impeccable style and attire, having the largest collection of Brook Brothers clothing in history. He loved cycling and was often seen riding his bicycle, playing softball, or line dancing, where he was affectionately called “Timothy, The Dancing Machine.”
Timothy’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Victoria A. Knighton, sons: James Bernard Williams (Calinda), Timothy James Knighton Jr., David Matthew Knighton (Joselyn), Stephen Paul Knighton and eight grandchildren: Patrick Ford, Amia Williams, Skye Williams, Ethan Knighton, Justice Knighton, Dillion Knighton, Victoria Jean Knighton and Isabella Knighton; along with a host of relatives and friends.
