

He was born December 24, 1936, in Kent Washington, the youngest son of J. Herald Cavender and Gladys (Wilks) Cavender. Floyd and his two brothers, grew up in Tekoa Washington. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Korean War. Upon his return a couple years later, Floyd married his high school sweetheart Ann (Fischer) Cavender. They spent the next fifty eight years building a happy life and family.
After moving to Chicago, IL., Floyd became a dental lab technician then opened his own business. He worked long hours to help support his family. The family spent the winters snow skiing every weekend. Floyd earned his pilot's license for single engine planes. He built a sporty kit car and had the materials and plans to build a plane. He never did build the plane, he sold the whole lot to another enthusiast.
Floyd is survived by three children Kent Cavender, Janette McAdams (Kevin) and Shari Warndorf,and eight grandchildren, along with three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Mark Cavender, his wife, Ann Cavender, his parents Gladys and J. Herald Cavender and both brothers, Laurence and Howard Cavender.
Following a brief graveside celebration of life, his cremains will be interred at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Washington at 1pm, May 6, 2026.
