Mary Ann Moyer

She was born August 5, 1936 in Buffalo, New York to Louis and Sarah Kozuch. She graduated from Mount Mercy Academy, Buffalo, earned her Associates degree from Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio and her BA from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, graduating with her youngest daughter in 1985.

She married Larry Smyntek in 1954 and was blessed with four wonderful children - Stephen (Vivian) Smyntek, Larry (Therese) Smyntek Jr., Lynn (William) Ostrowski, and Lisa (John) Ceinski. Her first 20 years were spent in West Seneca, New York where she was a member of The Buffalo Models Guild before moving to Cleveland Ohio in 1965. She taught Charm, Modeling and Self-Improvement classes at The Higbee Company, later becoming Fashion Coordinator for the store. She also worked for the Lake County YMCA, Lake County Park District, Lakeland Community College, and Lake Erie College.

She met and married her soulmate W.R. “Wimp” Moyer in November, 1987 and welcomed his four children: Jennie (Mike) Stotsky, Stephanie Willliams, Michael Moyer and Patrick Moyer. Together, Mary Ann and Wimp enjoyed their volunteer work, were Mentor Citizens of the Year and were especially proud of being founders of the Lake Educational Assistance Foundation.

After retirement, Wimp and Mary Ann moved to Estero, Florida in 1998 and settled in the Villages at Country Creek. They continued their volunteer work within the community. She worked part time at FGCU, a newly established University, and made many good friends who gave her comfort after the death of her husband Wimp in 2016.

She is survived by her four children, four step-children, seventeen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and her sisters Frances (John) Deppeler and Patricia (Ants) Nomm.

Her family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and neighbors who have loved and supported her throughout her lifetime.
