

Michael (Mike) J. Douglass passed away on December 29, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born in Muncie, Indiana, on March 4, 1942. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1960. He earned his bachelor's, master's, and education specialist degrees from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
Mike is survived by his wife, Susan, daughter Amy Crabb (Mark) of Pendleton, SC, son Joel Douglass (Brigette) of Timnath, CO, granddaughter Alexzandra Adler (Aaron) of Thornton, CO and grandsons Benjamin Crabb (Kenzie) of Palm Desert, CO, Zackary Douglass (Janell) of Arrington, TN, and Matthew Crabb of Reynoldsburg, OH, two great-grandsons, Lukas and Theodore, and his brother Roy Douglass (Jnet) of Hampden, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Christena Douglass, his sister, Christena Bright, and his faithful King Charles Spaniel, Chadwick.
A lifelong educator, Mike taught history and biology and coached golf and tennis at Hagerstown Jr./Sr. High School in Hagerstown, IN. Later in his career, he went into administration, serving as assistant principal and then principal. While in Hagerstown, he was active in the Jaycees.
His next administrative position was as principal of Worthington Jr Sr High School in Worthington, IN. There, he led the consolidation of three schools into one high school which became White River Valley High School. While in Worthington, he was a member of the Elks.
Mike was an avid golfer, fisherman and card player and his major frustration was losing cards to his kids. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending time with the many friends they met throughout the US.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 2 pm at Willow Lake Crossing Clubhouse, 1501 North Morrison Road, Muncie, IN.
