James Theodore Mousel

He is preceded in death by his father, Arnold Mousel; mother, Ann Mousel; and brother, Patrick Mousel.

He is survived by his wife Jan Mousel; kids, Rob Mousel (wife Sara Williams) and Anne Mousel Tillmann (husband William Tillmann), beloved grandkids, Rose, August (Gus), Harvey, Westley and Isla; sister, Carol Kay Forkenbrock; and brothers Frank Mousel and Dan Mousel.

Jim was born on March 27th, 1944 in Le Mars, Iowa and spent his childhood years with his family in Alton, Iowa. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Alton, Iowa in 1962 before pursuing further education at National Business Training in Sioux City, Iowa. He began his career in accounting at Marquette National Bank, later transitioning to Lakeside (Leisure Dynamics) a Minneapolis based toy company where he was trained as a systems programming manager. During this time, he proudly served his country for 6 years in the Army and National Guard. In his later years, he provided his expertise as a computer programming consultant for SKAMP, before co-founding his own successful venture, KMB Ltd., alongside two close friends.

Known for his kind temperament and easygoing personality, Jim brought joy to all who knew him. A devoted fan of Twins baseball and Vikings football, he had an impressive mastery of sports facts and statistics. His love for the outdoors was evident in his cherished moments spent fishing at the cabin and enjoying time on the lake. Above all, Jim took immense pride in his wife, two kids and five grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Mayo Clinic for the unparalleled level of care that Jim received as a patient and for giving us nearly three more precious years of time and memories with our husband, dad and grandfather. We would also like to thank Park Nicollet Home Care and Hospice and his nurses Sarah and Darby, for the care, compassion and advocacy they showed, not only our loved one, but our entire family, in our final days together.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on October 12th, 2024 at 1pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN. Visitation for the family will begin at 12:30 pm. Following the service, interment will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Friends and family are invited to join us for a luncheon afterward in the fellowship hall.
