Alice Marie Eastin

Alice Marie (Ely) Eastin, 78, Independence, MO, formerly of Hamilton, MO, passed away on September 19th, 2020, at the residence of her daughter, Risa Shay and partner, Rick Farrell, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Alice was born on July 1, 1942 in Hamilton, Missouri to G.A. and Ruby Ely. She attended high school at Penney High School in Hamilton, Missouri, where she met Everett Shay. They were wed on September 21, 1957. Alice and Everett had two children. Rhett (Rusty) Arlen Shay, of Independence, Missouri and Risa Marie Shay, Overland Park, Kansas.

Alice lived in the Kansas City area most her life and worked as an auditor. Alice enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, canning, fishing, and especially bird watching. But, by far the most important thing to Alice was her family. Alice’s number one hobby became weekend dinners and family gatherings with her kids and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, George Ely. Survivors: Son - Rusty (Denise) Shay; Daughter - Risa Shay; 5 grandchildren: Adam (Emma) Shay, Erika (Crandall) Johnston, Tyler Shay, Natalie (Lucas) Taylor, and Alyssa Chandler; 8 great-grandchildren: Marci, Chandler, Clark, Eleanor, Evelyn, Jovie, Lincoln, and Aurora; Sisters: Marcia (Robert) Wagner, Joyce (Ken) Larman, Jane McClelland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private service in the spring of 2021. Arrangements: Neptune Society.
