Blanche Loretta Pearson Galloway, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregivers, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Blanche was born on February 20, 1948, in Bells, Tennessee, to Clyde Pearson and Jo Farrow Pearson. At a young age, she moved with her family to Metairie, Louisiana, where she built a life centered on love, family, and community.
Blanche was a woman of remarkable strength, grace, and character. Known for her quick wit and natural charm, she had a gift for conversation and an ability to make everyone feel welcome and at ease wherever she went. Her lively spirit and sense of humor brought laughter and light into every room.
Those who knew Blanche admired her wisdom, resilience, and quiet strength—qualities shaped early in life and carried with dignity throughout the years. She faced life’s challenges with courage and became a steady, compassionate presence for her family and friends.
She cherished time with her family above all else and found joy in life’s simple moments—gatherings, laughter, and being together. She loved music, especially George Jones, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and Rick James. Even in the face of illness, Blanche’s spirit remained strong, and she kept her sense of humor to the end.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Pearson and Jo Farrow Pearson; her sister, Jenny Louise Pearson; her niece, Cheynie Muller; her cousins, Linda Drake Orgeron and Carol Drake Raiford; and her nephews, Adam and Luke Orgeron.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, John Emerson Galloway; her sons, Melbourne Ernest “Trey” Joseph III (Lynn Keenan) of New Orleans and Robert Raymond Joseph (Leslie Elizabeth Spano) of Atlanta; her beloved grandsons, Zachary Michael Joseph (Samantha Yrle) and Jack Francis Rutledge Joseph; her cousins, Donna Summers (and children Cassady Ashley and Jessye Ashley) and Jody Summers (and children Kelsey Bartlett (Jonathan) and Serena Summers); her sister-in-law, Carolyn Pace; her nephews, Steven Pace (Rose), Daniel Pace (Margaret), and Jonathan Pace (Vanessah and daughter Bernadette); her cousin, James Orgeron (Mary Ann); her cousin, Kenneth Drake (Fran); and many extended family members and dear friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and medical professionals who provided compassionate care and support during her illness.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 23, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at Vincent’s Italian Restaurant, 4411 Chastant Street, Metairie, Louisiana.
In honoring Blanche’s life, those who knew her will remember her simple but powerful belief: when you love someone, you “see about them.” She did just that—and in doing so, she left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
