Don lived a full and honorable life rooted in service, integrity, and kindness. From a young age, he carried a strong sense of duty and responsibility, which led him to proudly serve his country in the US Air Force. His time in uniform shaped his character and left a lasting impression on those who served alongside him. He never boasted of his service, but he lived every day with the same discipline, loyalty, and humility instilled during those years.
Don was a man of his word. His promises were not made lightly, and when he gave his word, it was as certain as the sunrise. Those who knew him best admired the strength of his character and his unwavering commitment to doing what was right. He led not with loud words, but with quiet actions, showing through his example the power of honesty, respect, and compassion. Above all, Don treated everyone he met with kindness. Whether a lifelong friend, a neighbor, or a stranger, he believed in offering others dignity and respect. He never overlooked a person, and his gentle nature made people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Family was the center of his world. He was a devoted husband and father and grandfather, and his love for his family was unconditional. He shared his wisdom generously, his humor warmly, and his support steadfastly. His family will remember him for the stories he told, the lessons he taught, and the unwavering love he gave so freely.
In addition to his devotion to family, Don found joy in working on his farm and had a passion for gardening and woodwork amongst many other hobbies. He completed his MBA at the University of Maryland. These pursuits reflected the same values he carried through life: patience, dedication, and care.
Don is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Tim; grandson, Gregory and his sister, Arleen. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Erich and Amanda Lehmann and his brothers: George, Erich Jr., Norman, Alvin, Earnest and Marvin Lewis.
