Ann Elizabeth Kime, 76, passed away on January 5, 2024 at her home in Hurst, Texas. Ann was born on September 16, 1947 in Concordia, Kansas to James B. and Maurine Fish. She grew up in Fritch, Texas and graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Math and Art. She married Hershel Kime in 1969 in Amarillo where they raised their three children until relocating to Hurst in 1988. Ann worked as the youngest supervisor at the American Quarter Horse Association in Amarillo, American Glass Distributors in Fort Worth, and closed her career at Bell Helicopter in Hurst.
Ann’s motto was “Hurt No One; Help When You Can,” and she lived by that ideal all of her life. She was the best of the helper generation and will be missed by so many who enjoyed the fruits of her labors. She delivered Meals on Wheels and worked until the wee hours of the morning to provide home-baked delicacies to hundreds who entered her wide scope of service. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed a special birthday cake with a theme of their choosing each year of their lives. She truly had a servant’s heart, sacrificing for others, and bringing joy to anyone within a ten mile radius of her smile.
Ann loved dragonflies, and her water bottle, coffee cup, tote bag, blankets and many other things bore the dragonfly’s image. The dragonfly represents protection, joy, light, and rebirth – and she embodied these ideals. Ann lived her life finding and sharing “joy”, bringing light into the lives of others, and believing in second chances. Her spirit will forever be present like the sun glimmering off a dragonfly’s wings. She was a warrior of love and giving, and she provided light and protection for her loved ones until she lifted her own iridescent wings and flew on.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Anthony. Her remaining loved ones are her husband of 54 years, Hershel; three children: Stephanie and husband Howard Thiele of Denison, Amy Kime and husband John-Paul Bedinger of North Richland Hills, and Drew and wife Kimberly of Euless. She leaves six grandchildren: Sammi and Katie Thiele and Izaak, Madeline, Hendrix, and Crosby Kime. She also leaves a sister, Lynn of McKinney, and two brothers, Jeff of Bayou Vista, and George of Burleson, along with an aunt, Deva Wampler of Rockport.
A joyful celebration of Ann’s life will be held on February 3rd at 10:00 am, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills. In lieu of memorial gifts, please donate any offerings to the Calvary Lutheran Church.
