Peter A. Tinnesz, 78, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022, in Ft. Worth, TX, following many years of navigating dementia with determination and courage. He is survived by seven children, 13 grandchildren, and two brothers. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Tinnesz and Captain James (Jim) Tinnesz, USAF.
Born in New Jersey, Pete was the oldest of five sons of Anton and Muriel Tinnesz. After earning a degree in English from Seton Hall University, he began a long and distinguished management career spanning a variety of fields, including corporate leadership, fitness centers, and country clubs—taking him to Upstate New York for many years and then to Northeast Florida for more than 25 years. At age 57, he earned a master’s degree so he might also teach undergraduate management classes to aspiring leaders. Coaching, teaching, and mentoring were among Pete’s greatest passions, and they led to many lasting friendships spanning over five decades. “Find a way” was his lifelong motto.
Pete relocated to Saginaw, TX, in 2015, to be close to daughter, Chelsea, son-in-law, Mark, and grandchildren Major and Cannon—who brought him tremendous joy. He also became an avid Scrabble player, creating special “senior rules,” which he loved to teach and play with neighbors and new friends at the Saginaw Senior Center.
On Saturday, 10/8, a Service of Comfort and Prayer will be held in the chapel at Northwood Church (1870 Rufe Snow Dr, Keller, TX) at 10:30 AM, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00 PM in the Great Room at Mariposa Apartments (451 E. McLeroy Blvd, Saginaw, TX). In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Pete’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the Saginaw Senior Center.
