William Franklin Barcafar

William Franklin Barcafar, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday May 12, 2022 at Harbor Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granbury Texas, after having suffered from dementia in recent years. Bill was born to Ralph F. and Louise (Powell) Barcafar on November 21, 1933, in Columbus Ohio. He attended public school in Springfield, Ohio, graduating from Springfield High School. He then studied Mechanical Engineering at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.

Bill began his tool and die career at McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, California. Upon returning to Springfield, Ohio he worked for International Harvester Company (Navistar) and U.A. Koehler Tool & Die before finishing his career at Hill-Rom in Batesville, Indiana.

Bill married Marian Lyons and they lived in Springfield raising three children, Jack, Janet and Jeffrey, prior to moving to Batesville, Indiana. Marian passed on November 14, 1984.

In Batesville, Indiana, Bill met Patsy Perdue while both were employed at Hill-Rom. They married in 1990. Upon their retirement, they became avid RVer-s and spent many happy miles traveling, visiting family and friends all over the USA. They settled in Haines City, Florida, and became cast members at Walt Disney World, enjoying the fun times with new friends and family. In 2016, they moved to Granbury, Texas to retire full time near Bill's son, Jeffrey and his wife, Diana.

Bill will be missed but not forgotten by his children and their spouses, Jeffrey W. (Diana) Barcafar of Granbury, Texas and Janet J. Barcafar (Carl Orvin, Jr.) of Richmond Hill, Georgia, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

There was nothing Bill liked better than an interesting conversation with a friend whether it be new or old. He could engage in conversation with anyone and never met a stranger. Bill enjoyed golf, building or fixing anything necessary, and was an avid Buckeye football fan.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by spouses Marian Lyons Barcafar and Patsy Perdue Barcafar, sisters Sara (Sally) Tolmachoff and Janet Boyd, and son, Jack Barcafar.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Harbor Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Granbury, TX and Interim Hospice staff for their compassion, friendship and skilled assistance in caring for Bill.
