Nancy Ann Zachry passed away peacefully on August 24, 2021, under hospice care, with all of her family by her side. She earned her culinary arts degree in 1982 at Schoolcraft Community College in Livonia, Michigan, and won several awards as a pastry chef. Nancy moved to Tampa in 1983. Soon after arriving in Florida, she began working at Bern’s Steakhouse as a pastry chef, and assisted in opening up the dessert room. After the birth of her two children, she decided to start her own housecleaning business to enable her to attend to her children while Garrett and Tara were small.
Nancy was one of the most generous people you would ever meet. She would give money to anyone in need even though she had little to give. Nancy was loving, she was funny, she lived life to the fullest, and was the life of the party. There was always an adventure with her around! Nancy was remarkably talented. Besides being a pastry chef, she could sing, dance, act, create, play the piano and the organ. Nancy was a loving and devoted mom to Garrett and Tara. She was the best little sister to Lori. She adored her grandkids Ella and Archer, and her grandnephew, Kane. Even during her darkest of days, they would always put a smile on her face. She was the “go to” mom in the neighborhood.
Nancy was an amazing friend. She loved sacrificially, always putting others before herself. These last few years have been difficult as she battled with Parkinson’s and her demons with alcohol. The loss of Nancy’s life (as complex and messy as it was) mattered. She brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. From time to time, fondly remember Nancy and her wonderful sense of humor, along with her crazy antics, and allow a smile to cross your face.
Those whom we love, who live on in our memories and abide in our hearts, remain with us here on earth, even as they are welcomed into Heaven.
