Michael “Mike” William Confer of Concord, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the age of 69. He was born on October 30, 1952, in Fitzsimons Army Hospital, Aurora, Colorado where he grew up.
He graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree in 1999.
He started working as an electrical designer in Colorado in 1972, and relocated to Ohio in 1979 to work at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. After receiving his EE Degree Mike worked as an electrical engineer for several engineering firms until retiring in 2018.
He was actively involved in Pilgrim Lutheran Brethren Church, Medical Supplies for Christ, Illuminating Engineers Society of North America, and volunteering for Playhouse Square.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Marshall Confer, and Mother, Winifred (Miller) Confer.
He is survived by his wife Rhona (Onspaugh) Confer, daughter Tamara Confer of Colorado, son Joshua Confer of Oregon, step-sons John Heart of Concord and Mark Werbeach of North Carolina, and granddaughters Adrianna and Natalia and great-granddaughter Charlie of Colorado.
Mike enjoyed traveling, was fun-loving and always wanted to participate in whatever activities were happening. He enjoyed collecting guns, shooting and going to gun shows with his friends. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and helping out.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood at Chardon and Hospice of the Western Reserve for the care and compassion they showed him in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Pilgrim Lutheran Brethren Church, 9514 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor, OH 44060 on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 4:00 pm. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:30 pm.
