Robert (Bob) Glenn Carter, age 84, of Brunswick, Ohio was born November 20th, 1940 in Charleston, MO. Bob passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in Medina Hospital's ICU, with his loving wife by his side. After months of illness and downplaying the seriousness while thoroughly avoiding medical intervention.
Bob was an intelligent man who had many interests during his lifetime. Two hobbies that stuck with him through the years: radio operator, photography and all that it entails. As Bob not only took photos with complicated equipment, he developed his own film in a friends' dark room and made prints off of the negatives. He also spent years riding and showing off his motorcycles. He won numerous trophies and was also a member of the Iron Horseman in Ohio. There were some stunt riding in those crazy years; we have video!
Reading was another favorite; non-fiction, biographies, true crime and a few comedies written by comedians. His repertoire of movies he enjoyed to watch included westerns and comedies. Some of his favorite television shows included: Newhart, the Andy Griffith Show and the Beverly Hillbillies. Good music he enjoyed was country and gospel; Statler Brothers, Gene Watson, Narvel Felts and Vince Gill, just to name a few.
In his high school years, he was a DJ and known as "the voice" of the early morning radio KCHR station. His theme song "Raunchy", by Bill Justis, was known to many that would tune in to listen. The 1958's 50th class reunion for Charleston High had a few "groupies" show up and ask for autographs; he complied!
Robert was a United States Marine. He was very proud of his military service and accomplishments. He also served as a deputy sheriff in Missouri and Ohio for sometime.
Bob became an over the road trucker. It all began as pulling one trailer, to two trailers and then three trailers! He received his million mile, accident free plaque and was close to receiving his second million miles when Consolidated Freightways closed. Handling Norwalk Furniture was next, still traveling across the U.S before retiring. Retirement became a little stale, so Bob signed up to become a school bus driver, adding to his CDL's. Bob enjoyed this phase for a few years and grew popular with the students, they loved him!
Robert also engaged in good food as Terry widen his palate, especially after all the "truck stop" food. His favorite remained a cheeseburger and southern banana pudding.
Once you met Bob, he was hard to forget; great sense of humor generous and well-liked.
He was also very direct. You knew where you stood with him, as he didn't mince words, EVER.
Missouri always had a place in Bob's heart. His friends, many lifelong classmates, festivals, old hangouts and the class reunions. Bob had a memory like an elephant. Friends would call him if they needed information, past or present.
Bob is preceded in death by: father; Robert Paul Carter, mother; Loretta (Levan) Bond, brother; Paul Carter, and sisters; Violet Moreland and Margie Stevenson.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Terry Lee ( Moore) Carter of 36 years.
