
Charles (Chip) Ullrich passed away peacefully on May 15, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Evanston, Illinois on November 21, 1947 and was a long time resident of Long Grove. Owner of the Village Tavern, along with his wife Mary Ann. He spent many years entertaining customers with his masterful auctioneering talents and frequently sat in with various local bands by playing the harmonica. He was a talented artist, avid fisherman, golfer, and diehard Cubs fan. Among many other traits was his great sense of humor and quick wit. He served with honor in the Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. He was a devoted father, active Lions Club member, sponsor of charitable veterans activities, and supporter of many local charities.
Chip is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 47 years; his sons Charlie Ullrich (Los Angeles, CA), Adam Ullrich (Long Grove, IL), and Barrett Ullrich (Melanie) (Phoenix, AZ); his daughter Tiffany McLaud (Steve) (Mendham, NJ); his four grandsons Benjamin Ullrich (Adam) and Jack, Collyer, and Teddy McLaud (Tiffany); his brothers John Ullrich, Dick Ullrich, and Jack Sayles; his sisters Ginny Conners and Sue Heimerle.
He leaves behind a legacy of a life well lived and will be missed by the many lives he touched. Tuesday, May 31st there will be a service for family and close friends at the Long Grove Community Church followed by a celebration of life at the Village Tavern of Long Grove from 1 to 4pm.
