Rachel was born in San Antonio, Texas, on June 26, 1980 and passed away on October 10, 2022, at the age of 42. Rachel lived in San Antonio for most of her life. She attended St. George Episcopal School through the 8th grade, studied at Incarnate Word High School and graduated from Clark High School. She finished her college education at the University of Oklahoma with a degree in anthropology with a minor in linguistics. Later, she attended graduate school in accounting.
Although she held several jobs in offices where she reconciled invoices and did other office work, her favorite position was here in San Antonio, working for Sirius Computer Solutions, which was acquired by CDW in 2021. Rachel seemed to love figuring out the puzzles of where money amounts had gone into the system, and how to retrieve that chain of events. In early 2021, she was promoted to senior accounts specialist. She told me numerous times how much she loved her job and the people she worked with.
While working there, she noticed an invoice from a company she didn’t recognize, and notified security. Ultimately, this email was deemed dangerous and Rachel was thanked by the head of her division and given company-wide recognition for her diligence.
Eight years ago she met Kevin Roberts, who was the love of her life. Even though illness delayed their marriage plans, she loved her tanzanite engagement ring, and she loved her time spent with Kevin, who treated her so well. Anyone who knew her recognized her love of Persian cats. She and Kevin contributed to South Texas Persian Rescue, one of her favorite non-profit organizations, by adopting three Persian cats and providing foster care for several other kitties. Donations in her honor can be made to this non-profit online.
Her gifts included a beautiful voice, an amazing imagination and a love of laughter, and she will be missed by her father, Don D. Howe, her mother, N. Carol Dornbluth, her sisters, Sarah H. Cardella and Rebecca M. Howe, her fiancé, Kevin Roberts, her friends, and all of the rest of her family. We all appreciate the many phone calls, texts, emails, cards and sympathetic words people have offered.
