Tom was very special to me, as a member of St. Lukes Healing Ministries, he helped me through a very difficult time in my life. This endeared him to me and I looked upon him as a loved family member these last 7 years. 

I already miss him alot. He is now at home with our Father, and this gives me peace.

Thomas Alva Hohing of Helotes, Texas, died on Wednesday, Nov. 11. He was 95.

He is survived by his son, Thomas S. Hohing of Richmond, Va., and his granddaughter, Kristen Hohing Donati of McDonald, Pa. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joanne Hohing; his daughter, Karen Hohing; his son, Karl Hohing; his second wife, Reggie Hohing; his brother, Dr. Charles Hohing; and his longtime friend, Betty Toups.

Mr. Hohing was born and raised in North Versailles, Pa. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy. During his service, he was engaged in pioneering work with sonar technology, which set the course for his career in engineering.

Mr. Hohing graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering. He also completed work toward a doctorate. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Mr. Hohing belonged to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, which will accept donations in lieu of flowers. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, a virtual service will be held at a later date. He will be interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

“Grandpa Tom” was such a joy for all the children at church. He would video all the important events at St. Michael’s. He will be missed, but has rejoined his Reggie in heaven.
