Stanley Robert Fedyszyn, age 84, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024. Born on September 18th, 1939, in Dunkirk, New York, Stan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Known for his genius and avant-garde approach, he founded the Norfolk Theater Center, the Virginia Opera Association, and the Christopher Newport College Theater Department. He dedicated 30 years as a pastor to congregations in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, leaving a lasting impression on countless lives.
Stan is survived by his wife, Judith Fedyszyn; children, Natasha, Andrei, Nikolai, and Aleksandr; siblings, Audrey Jakubowski Lazarus, Thomas Fedyszyn, and Mary Ellen Schafer; and grandchildren, Ilse, Anton, Mikhail, Nadia, Jan, Evgeni, and Zori. He was preceded in death by his son, Ivan.
Stan will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his profound impact on his family, church congregations, and the Tidewater theater community.
The family will welcome all friends to share in a celebration of Stan's life on November 10th at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the Wells Theater on Tazwell St. in Norfolk, VA.
