John was always a kind and sincere friend.  

I fondly remember how John and my brother JR were always up too something the youngest ones always mischievous….they both raced after church too get as many cookies stuffed in places they could…lol… and ur mom would stand with her hands on her hips and say John … such wonderful memories that u never realize u will remember about those that touched your life’s… John and your entire family did, from youth ski trips, to Newman teaching Sunday school, to just all the fun we all had together as kids at church!!! May all the years  of memories warm your heart and make u laugh , smile during these most difficult days, months and years…. How blessed he was to grow up in such a loving family!! Love AnnClaire 

When I was about 16, I first met the youngest Loafman.   I guess he was around 9 or 10.   His oldest sister was my best friend.    I got to know him best when he was a camper and I was a counselor at camp Crucis.  He and I shared something in common.  We both were the sort of campers to get homesick and the kids that honed in on the one phone at camp so we could call our moms.   I remember seeing John in Nurse Francis’s office and he was crying and so homesick.   That was when I first knew that tender hearted young guy.   A year or two after (his only summer at camp) I think I witnessed his first heartache.   That was when his beloved hamster, Bubba, died.  I can remember vividly he was so so sad about that hamster.   I also remember Jennifer and I laughing at him a little behind his back.   Maybe Jennifer didn’t, but I know I did.   And he did NOT like it.  Over the next few years, the whole Loafman family became like my second family.  I would spend the night there and always calling the house phone and that little John was so personable and nice.  A typical baby brother with all of the jokes and pranks.   A preppy, well mannered, golfer is how I remember him in those days.   When John was in high school, his mom died.   The light fell out of his eyes.  I remember thinking it would return.   And it did here and there over the years.    It returned when he was around his grandmother.   It returned when he was celebrating.  Boy early 20s John was FUN!  Fun to hang out with and fun to talk to.   I remember I got a flat tire once on the side of I-30 and who came and changed my tire?  John Loafman.    But the darkness was there and the burdens of life (and death) were heavy.   In recent years, the light was bright.  And that light was his daughter, Cynthia, named for his mother.  Cynthia seemed to bring hope and joy.  Two things that you want and need.  Cynthia was the light of John’s life.  And it was neat to see him experience the unconditional adoration and love of

And it was neat to see him experience the unconditional adoration and love of and for your child.   The sad part to me is that the darkness has turned the light out.   The struggles of the past 22 years, have finally conquered this earthly life.   With the hope that I have, I believe that light is eternal.   That John has left his earthly pains and struggles here.   That his heart and soul, his brain and his body are at peace now.   And  he has left a look alike legacy in the form of his precious daughter.  I pray that the sensitive, kind, boisterous, bubba loving, aspects of John are instilled in his legacy.   I hope that she can have all of his lightness and have the hope and joy that her dad offered many.   I will always remember John as a young guy mourning his hamster.  I will remember him as a proud dad introducing his Cynthia to me for the first time.   I will remember the grandson that regularly called Nana.   I will remember that homesick little guy, that wanted to be with his mom.  I pray to be able to know Cynthia, and remind her of the dad I knew.  Rest In Peace John.
